Due to Covid-19, Naish Kiteboarding couldn't fly the team to Hawaii for the photo and video shoots with the new Season 25 gear. So, they decided to work with local media to create a combined video with footage from all over the globe. We, Thestokefarm, shot the Dutchies' part with Stig Hoefnagel and Cohan van Dijk.
Naturally, just a small part of the footage was used. So I've used the leftovers to cut a 'behind the scenes' of the shoot. Getting sent away, dirty lenses, howlings winds.. It wasn't an easy one! But that's the way we like it. Join us in 'Making a Kiteboarding Movie'! (Words from Edwin the camera man)
I was a bit bummed at first because it was going to be my first time traveling to Maui, Hawaii, and I was beyond excited to go there for the photoshoot. However, due to Covid, there was no way for us to fly to Hawaii, so we had to come up with an alternative plan. Fortunately, our local area offers many unique and excellent kite spots. Within a maximum of one hour's drive, you can find plenty of great spots, depending on the conditions and wind direction. We were incredibly lucky because the Dutch summers are not typically known for being very windy, and we only had two weeks to shoot. The conditions we had during those two weeks were unreal, ranging from storms to sunny skies and light wind conditions. After delivering all the footage to Naish, Edwin decided to create his own little video, and I couldn't be more happy with the outcome!
