The Cape Town season had just started, and after my Podium at the 2021 RedBull King of The Air, I was flying on a cloud of happiness. I was as happy as ever, and life was simply great. On top of this, Iksurf asked me if I wanted to be on their cover for the next issue. It needed to be a big air photo and had to be done in Cape Town. This was quite a challenge since most of the kite spots here in Cape Town have been overdone when it comes to photos or videos. So, coming up with something creative and unique was quite a challenge.
I had a spot in mind that I don't kite very often, but I knew it could potentially have a sick backdrop of the city. So, I asked Michal Jagniatkowski to come with me. He's a great videographer who also happens to be very good at taking photos. The wind was so strong that day that I had to take out my 7-meter pivot, something I don't do very often. The great thing was that there were hardly any other kiters around, so there was no disruption in trying to capture the shot we were looking for. After just 20 minutes, I returned to the beach, and Michal told me that he had already captured it. From not really knowing what to do and where to go, we hit the jackpot within only 20 minutes.
